Physician – Part Time

Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced physician with family medicine/general practice training to join our clinic in Toronto on a part-time basis. Experience in oncology is an asset but not required. In this role, you will provide a comprehensive assessment with the support of allied health care professionals to patients affected by cancer related fatigue. Your expertise will be invaluable in diagnosing, treating, and supporting these patients as they navigate their cancer journey.

 

Roles & Responsibilities

Patient Care:

    • Conduct detailed medical assessments of patients suffering from cancer-related fatigue in conjunction with a multidisciplinary team.
    • Develop individualized treatment plans that address both the physical and mental aspects of cancer related fatigue.
    • Coordinate and monitor ongoing care for patients, adjusting treatment plans as needed. Collaborating with oncologists when necessary.
    • Health Education: In conjunction with other health care professionals, educate patients and their families about cancer conditions, fatigue, and treatment options, as well as lifestyle modifications and preventive measures.

Clinical Expertise:

    • Stay up-to-date with the latest research, guidelines, and best practices in cancer-related fatigue management. Onboarding training will be provided.
    • Continuing Education: Stay informed about the latest developments in cancer and fatigue care through continuous medical education and research.
    • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to provide a treatment care plan to patients.

Communication:

    • Effectively communicate with patients, their families, and caregivers, providing clear explanations of diagnoses, treatment options, and prognosis.
    • Offer emotional support and counseling as part of a multidisciplinary team to patients facing the challenges of fatigue during cancer treatment.

Record Keeping:

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring compliance with all medical record-keeping standards and regulations within the clinic EMR.

Collaboration:

    • Collaborate with other healthcare providers within the clinic to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care for patients.

 

Work Location

In-person (Toronto) and remote

 

Qualifications & Experience (required)

    • Strong clinical and diagnostic skills
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • Compassion and empathy in dealing with patients and their families
    • Ability to work well in a multidisciplinary healthcare team
    • Dedication to evidence-based practice and continuous learning

 

Qualifications & Experience (ideal)

Subspecialty training or experience in the field of cancer-related fatigue is an asset but not required

 

License/Certification

Doctor of Medicine (MD) from accredited medical school with active and unrestricted medical license to practice in Ontario (CPSO), Board certification in Family Medicine (CCFP)

 

Compensation

Hourly/salaried base with option of business shares
