Dr. Scott Adams is a physiologist and scientist with >15 years of experience delivering and testing the effects of exercise-based interventions in people living with and after cancer. Prior to founding Cancer Fatigue Services, Scott was a scientist and the Exercise Lead of the Ted Rogers Cardiotoxicity Prevention Program at the University Health Network. He was the inaugural co-chair of the Cardio-Oncology Rehabilitation & Exercise working group of the International Cardio-Oncology Society. He completed his PhD at the University of Alberta (Edmonton, Alberta) and two postdoctoral fellowships at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (New York, New York) and the University of Toronto (Toronto, Ontario).
As a clinician, he co-founded and co-led support services for people living with and after cancer. These include the Rehabilitation and Exercise Oncology Program (Jewish General Hospital (JGH); Montreal, Quebec) and ‘CancerFightClub’. Here, young adults with cancer across the JGH and the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC; Montreal, Quebec) received exercise, emotional, and educational support in person and online. Dr. Adams was a member of the Adolescent and Young Adult Oncology Program (Princess Margaret Cancer Centre; Toronto, Ontario), the Hemato-Oncology tumor board (JGH), and the McGill Adolescent and Young Adult Oncology Program (MUHC).
As a scientist, Scott is extremely fortunate to have worked with top research teams within hospital, university, and community settings across North America. His research focused on understanding how to predict, identify, minimize, and treat some of the most common and debilitating side effects of cancer treatments like fatigue, and its major causes e.g. cardiovascular dysfunction, skeletal muscle injuries and emotional distress.
Over the past 15+ years, Dr. Adams time and again witnessed the power of exercise-based multi-disciplinary interventions to transform lives and restore hope for people living with and after cancer. For people living with greater levels of physical impairments and emotional distress, these interventions were life-changing.
Dr. Adams and the Cancer Fatigue Services team are ready to help you retake control of your energy and your life!
